Fasting isn’t about willpower or proving something to God.
It’s about making room for Him.

FASTING

An Invitation to Make Room

Fasting is not a test of willpower or a way to prove our devotion to God. At its heart, fasting is about making room. It is a physical response to a spiritual hunger, an intentional choice to slow down, quiet the noise, and reset our hearts.

When we fast, we aren’t trying to twist God’s arm or earn His attention; we are simply positioning ourselves to receive what He is already eager to give. By setting aside certain comforts—whether meals, media, or habits—we create a sacred space to notice His goodness, receive His mercy, and become attentive to what He is forming in us.

How to Participate

There is no single "right" way to fast. What matters most is the posture of your heart and your willingness to listen. We encourage you to seek the Lord and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as you decide how to participate.

Selective Fast:

Removing specific items like meat, sweets, or bread (e.g., the Daniel Fast). This builds discipline and mindfulness, choosing God’s way over our own cravings.

Complete Fast:

Consuming only liquids like water or light juices. This heightens spiritual dependency, declaring that we live by every word that comes from God.

Partial Fast:

Abstaining from food during specific hours (e.g., sunup to sundown). This consecrates your daily rhythm, replacing mealtimes with prayer and the Word.

Soul Fast:

Stepping away from "noise" like social media or television. This declutters the mind, allowing you to re-center your focus on the voice of the Spirit.

7-day CHurch Wide Fast | Jan 26 - Feb 1

“One thing I ask… to behold the beauty of the Lord.” (Psalm 27:4)

We are so glad you are joining us for this 7-day journey. Whether you have been part of Heirs Church for years or you are just joining us for this season, we are expectant for what God is going to do.

Fasting isn’t about striving for God’s attention—it’s about positioning our hearts to receive what He is already eager to give. Fasting clears space. Prayer tunes our ears. Worship lifts our eyes. Scripture anchors our faith. This week is marked by nearness, not pressure. As we set aside time daily for prayer, worship, scripture, and stillness, let your physical hunger remind you that He alone satisfies.

Day 1 – Intimacy with the Lord

Theme: One Thing Is Needed

Today’s Focus

Before we pray for outcomes, we pursue His presence. Revival starts at the feet of Jesus. In a world of doing, Jesus invites us to be. Like Mary, we position ourselves to listen and linger. This fast is about awakening a hunger that only He can satisfy and beholding Jesus again. Today, we choose the one thing that cannot be taken from us.

Scripture

  • Psalm 27:4

  • James 4:8

  • Luke 10:42

Prayer Points

  • Hunger and Desire: A renewed, deep hunger for God above all else.

  • The Grace to Linger: For the patience to draw near and simply stay in His presence.

  • Beholding Jesus: A shift from just serving Him to truly beholding and delighting in Him.

  • Spirit Awareness: A heightened, deeper awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence.

  • Alignment: To keep our hearts centered and aligned to the one thing that matters.

The Daily Habit

Don’t rush today. Let worship play longer than usual. Read Scripture slowly. Sit quietly. God often whispers before He shouts.

Prayer

Lord, we draw near to You. Awaken our hunger. Strip away distractions and refocus our hearts on Jesus. Teach us to behold You and to delight in Your presence. You are the one thing we need. Amen.

Day 2 – Our Church Family

Theme: A Healthy, Whole, and Spirit-Led Influence

Today’s Focus

We thank God for our church and contend for health from the inside out. A church grows strong when its people walk in their identity and its leaders are supported. We are not just a gathering; we are a family. When we are healthy, our influence in our city becomes unstoppable.

Scripture

  • Ephesians 1:17–18

  • Acts 2:42–47

  • Colossians 2:19

Prayer Points

  • Leadership Covering: Wisdom, health, protection, and provision for our pastors, board, and serve teams.

  • Family Strength: Supernatural strength for marriages, families, and individuals within our house.

  • Sonship Identity: That our identity would be rooted in being children of God, not in our striving.

  • Inward Health and Outward Reach: For spiritual health within our walls and influential reach beyond them.

  • Community and Growth: That people would find their place in community and around tables in small groups—growing in faith and becoming like Christ.

The Daily Habit

Pray for people by name. Churches are built with people, not programs. After praying, send a text to someone in our community: “I prayed for you today!”

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Heirs Church. Strengthen our leaders, protect our families, and deepen our roots in Christ. Shape us into a healthy, Spirit-filled church with lasting influence. We receive our identity as heirs. Amen.

Day 3 – The Next Generation

Theme: Sons and Daughters Who Know Who They Are

Today’s Focus

From babies to young adults, the next generation is under immense pressure. We pray for clarity of identity and courage. They aren’t just the church of tomorrow; they are the church today. There is no Junior Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t just tolerate children; He empowered them.

Scripture

  • Psalm 127:3–5

  • Isaiah 54:13

  • 1 Timothy 4:12

Prayer Points

  • Children and Youth: For every baby, child, teen, and young adult in our church family.

  • Campus Influence: Protection and favor over schools, colleges, teachers, and campuses.

  • Clarity Amidst Confusion: Strength to navigate pressure, anxiety, and the noise of culture.

  • Kingdom Identity: That their identity would be anchored in Christ, not the world.

  • Godly Community: For the formation of healthy friendships and strong mentors.

The Daily Habit

Speak Scripture over your children. Even if they are not yet walking with God, prayer plants seeds that Heaven watches over. Pray for each young person by name.

Prayer

Lord, we lift the next generation to You. Guard their hearts and minds. Anchor their identity in Christ. Raise them as strong, joyful, Spirit-filled sons and daughters who love truth and walk in courage. Amen.

Day 4 – The San Francisco Bay Area

Theme: We Are Meant to Be Here

Today’s Focus

God has placed us in the Bay Area on purpose. We believe this is an exceedingly good land ripe for a move of God. We are here to seek the peace and prosperity of the place God has called us home. We contend for revival, unity among churches, and wisdom for those who lead and serve our cities.

Scripture

  • Jeremiah 29:7

  • Deuteronomy 8:7

  • Habakkuk 3:2

Prayer Points

  • Heart for the City: For a deep love for exactly where God has planted us.

  • Regional Revival: A move of God across all 9 counties and 131 cities of the Bay Area.

  • Church Unity: For unity and shared vision among local churches and pastors across the region.

  • Leadership and Peace: Godliness for government leaders, educators, and first responders; for peace, justice, and spiritual awakening.

The Daily Habit

Pray with faith, not frustration. God specializes in unlikely places. Prophesy and speak blessing over the Bay Area as you go about your day.

Prayer

God of revival, breathe again on the Bay Area. We bless our cities and declare this is good land. Unite Your Church, guide our leaders, and awaken hearts to Jesus. Let Your glory fill this region. Amen.

Day 5 – Our Home

Theme: A Permanent Place for Lasting Impact

Today’s Focus

We believe God is leading us into a permanent home. Not just a building, but a facility of refuge, equipping, and hope—a stake in the ground for the generations to come. Buildings serve the mission by creating a home for people to be encouraged, strengthened, and loved.

Scripture

  • Isaiah 54:2–3

  • 2 Samuel 7:10

  • Psalm 84:1–2

Prayer Points

  • Timing and Provision: For God’s perfect timing, favor, and provision of every resource.

  • The Right Facility: A hub for outreach, equipping, and community care.

  • Visionary Growth: Strengthening our stakes and expanding our reach into the region.

  • Kingdom Partnerships: For Kingdom-minded people to sow, partner, and give toward what the Lord wants to build.

  • Practical Favor: Favor with zoning boards, city officials, and building owners.

The Daily Habit

Pray boldly and expectantly today for God’s favor. Visualize a space filled with people meeting Jesus and finding hope.

Prayer

Lord, establish the work of our hands. Lead us to a permanent home where lives are changed, and hope is restored. Provide every resource needed and guide us by Your wisdom. We trust You. Amen.

Day 6 – Our Resources

Theme: God of More Than Enough

Today’s Focus

God gives the ability to create wealth to advance His Kingdom. Provision flows where trust grows. When we move from a scarcity mindset to a stewardship mindset, we realize that open hands make room for Heaven’s supply. We pray for freedom from lack and an increase in generosity, stewardship, and hospitality.

Scripture

  • Deuteronomy 8:18

  • 2 Corinthians 9:8

  • Philippians 4:19

Prayer Points

  • Personal Provision: For everyone who calls this church home to experience financial breakthrough.

  • Generosity Heartset: A deeper understanding that we are blessed to be a blessing.

  • Breaking Limitation: Freedom from lack mentalities and financial bondage.

  • Stewardship and Increase: Wisdom in finances and an increase in our capacity for hospitality.

  • Legacy Lanes: Resources for our future home, our teams, and our future impact.

The Daily Habit

Open hands make room for Heaven’s supply. The world of the generous gets larger and larger. Take a moment to sit with your palms up and tell God, "Everything I have is Yours."

Prayer

Jehovah Jireh, You are our Provider. Break every mindset of lack and release wisdom, faith, and generosity. Supply every need and use our resources to bless others and build Your Kingdom. Amen.

Day 7 – A Year of the Miraculous

Theme: Breaking In, Through, and Out

Today’s Focus

We believe this is a year of the miraculous. What has been delayed is being delivered. We contend for tangible encounters with the power of God. Miracles are not just a memory from the early church; they are the language of the living God. As we conclude these 7 days, we believe for the impossible to become reality.

Scripture

  • Acts 19:11

  • Mark 9:23

  • Zechariah 4:6

Prayer Points

  • Extraordinary Miracles: For supernatural breakthroughs and long-standing prayers to be answered this year.

  • Restoration: For marriages to be restored, families healed, and minds renewed.

  • Physical Healing: For bodies to be healed and strength to be restored.

  • Spiritual Power: For a tangible sense of God’s presence in our services and a fresh move of the Spirit.

  • The Harvest: For salvations and for people to find their way home to God.

The Daily Habit

Don’t let the end of the fast be the end of your focus. Walk boldly into the Father's throne room today. Expect to see Him move in your life this week.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, move among us. Release miracles, healings, and breakthroughs. Restore what is broken and revive what is weary. Let Your power be undeniable and Your presence tangible among us. We believe for more. Amen.

Final Encouragement

As we have fasted and prayed this week, remember: God rewards those who seek Him. Continue to expect clarity. Continue to expect renewal. Continue to expect God to meet you in simple and sacred moments.

Heirs Church, now is the time. Let us draw near. We will see you at our Annual Anointing Service.

Much love, Ps Brenden and Jacqui Brown
